A note about possibility

Cailtin

The Kanes often often often talk about ‘letting the universe support you,’ instead of driving ahead toward reaching something that is yet unattained, but known -
as opposed to letting the universe support you into something great that you may not yet know about!!!

So I am walking down the street and run into a pack of literally 40 or so Labrador Retriever puppies, all wearing vests that say Guide Dog Puppy-in-Training.  Now – I have just written a book that involves laboradors, Guide Dogs, and Search and Rescue Dogs – I am very aware of how astonishingly important these dogs are as service dogs both to the blind and to police and fire departments. They are here today looking for volunteers to raise puppies.

One of my dreams in life is to have a home full of animals – dogs, birds, cats, horses, a donkey! So far, I’ve managed only 3 cats in my entire adult life. Some people dream of travel – I travel, and dream of having a dog!

I logically figured I would have to either change my work substantially or never have dogs. Dogs over 20lbs (which is the size of my cat) have to fly in cargo, which is both dangerous and expensive, and its illegal to fly them in cargo in the summer and the winter. Plus – a big dog needs a lot of care, which, when you are away all the time, is very costly.

I told the lady, there was nothing I would love more than a puppy, but I travel… ‘By AIRPLANE?!!?’ she said. ‘Umm, yes, definitely by airplane.’ ‘Through security?!?’ she said. ‘Always through security.’ ‘Do you meet security officials?!?’ She was so excited, I wondered if she thought I had said I go to the moon. ‘We need people who travel by airplane, desperately!’

What had not occurred to me, was that: 1) blind people travel, too, 2) search and rescue dogs frequently have to go to emergencies via airplane and helicopter, 3) a lot of people who might think to volunteer to raise a puppy (ie moms and their kids) do not have the opportunity to travel frequently. These dogs need to be socialized at an early age to things like airplanes! Who knew! And:

It is U.S. Federal Regulation that these dogs travel wherever humans go- buses, trains, subways, planes, restaurants, stores. All vet care and free boarding are provided by the organization. And the dog comes with a passport for international clearance to all US friendly countries!

Blew my whole story/complaint fest right out of the proverbial water!!!

***Like the Kane’s say, let the universe support you, however ridiculously unreasonable the request, and let it provide it in its OWN way, not the way we know or the way we expect. ***

And how great does it show up! Better than I could ever have thought up myself.
