Having Success in Your Career and Your Life
I love going to work. For someone who used to think I should have been a rock star, it amazes me how much I love being a Loan Service Officer at an Investment Bank!
I used to be in a pop/rock band for 6 1/2 years. During this time, I was the Receptionist at the Bank. At my first year review, my boss asked what I thought of my career path. I answered, “I’m not interested in climbing the corporate ladder because my band is going to be discovered”. For the next 8 years, there I stayed in my administration assistant position, treating it like a “day job,” waiting for my life to begin.
Then I met award-winning authors & internationally acclaimed seminar leaders, Ariel & Shya Kane. I attended their workshops in NYC & I read their award winning books, and something happened… magic. I learned how to live in the moment. Where mundane activities are amazingly satisfying & life is full of possibilities. Within 5 years of knowing the Kanes, I jumped to a new department within the Bank (Loan Servicing) and was hired without having a business degree or prior experience. I learned on the job & was promoted to a Bank Officer within 2 years.
Ariel & Shya teach that I am not my thoughts. I am the One who listens to the thoughts. Therefore I have choice. In 5 years I stopped complaining, got to work, & fell in love with my life. I didn’t try to change my life, it transformed on it’s own, without me “doing” anything. Being present is a skill set that anyone & everyone can experience & strengthen. Life keeps getting better & better. By the way, my music is flourishing and I am also on track to be promoted at my job. I have my first album on iTunes and I love what I’ve produced.
