Rush Hour Traffic Patroller
Yesterday afternoon, my lovely girlfriend Ali was sitting outside on her porch and much to her delight and surprise she witnessed the following. (In her words): I live on the corner of a busy intersection in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I was locking my bike up and suddenly, behind me I heard a loud symphony of car horns. I turned around to see that all four stoplights were frozen on red, and rush hour traffic was quickly backing up. On the corner stood a young boy watching the madness. He calmly walked out into the middle of the street, Razor Scooter in tow, and began to direct the traffic. Confidently he allowed one car at a time to pass, all the while grinning from ear to ear. I sat down to watch this young boy, not older then 8, transform this chaotic situation into a manageable one. This continued for over a half an hour until a worker came to fix the stop lights. The young boy graciously thanked the worker for showing up, and then hopped back on his scooter and rode away. I felt fortunate to witness such an amazing sight! He saw that he could help, and he did; no hesitation! It was truly inspiring!
