Good bye + Thank you + Work from Karin in Cologne, Germany
Dear friends around the world,
Especially you rocking guys in the New York, New Jersey & Connecticut area,
It is the last day of my three weeks stay in the New York area, I’m just about to take a cab to the airport. What a gift to participate in a workshop with Ariel & Shya, a couple of Monday Night Alive and a radio show pre-recording that was completely life changing for me as it opened totally new possibilities of keeping word with myself. I feel more empowered than ever to be the author of my life.
I can honestly say that I’m not the woman that came here three weeks ago. I had the most amazing time, a wonderful dip into language, culture and TRANSFORMATION.
So this message is most of all to THANK YOU! I met so many of you. Each encounter was unique, fun, inspiring and deeply touching. I enjoyed so much seeing you in all your brilliance at your workplaces: from school with Tricia and Holly to Belly Dancing and a BNI meeting with Val, Haydee at the UN, voice lesson with Susan, Noni singing with her choir (I just came back from there, girl, you gave me goose bumps, worshipping has a totally new meaning to me)… just to name a few. I hung out with you, met you at your favorite bars and restaurants, learned about your industries, your passions – I had the feeling I went from inspiration to inspiration. As for intensity it feels I’ve been spending three months with you.
I’m working as an interpreter and PR consultant and came to the US to brush up my English. After some days I was so inspired that I actually started looking for job opportunities in the New York area. Let me share with you what happened. I happened to go to the opening of Corinne McCormack’s new show room after a shopping tour with Lenore. I wore a short sleeveless blue dress and sneakers. I was completely worried about my outfit, because everybody else was pretty dressed up. I was actually in the middle of my “Why do I wear sneakers” thought, when Alec, the CEO of the company that bought Corinne’s company, approached me saying “I love your shoes, what are they? Nike? Puma?” My Geox sneakers turned out to be a great opener for a very nice conversation. Alec asked me about the readers market in Germany and I learned that they are reaching out to the German market. We exchanged emails afterwards and I might get a chance to work with them.
Last Friday I was at MOMA with Gio and Noni when I got a text from Dave telling me that he might have work for me. Four hours later I found myself talking to one of his colleagues on a project involving translations and interpreting in the German market. WOW!!! I made some more contacts I will follow up on once I’m back at my desk.
If you know people I can support with my services I would love if you could put me in touch with them. Feel free to contact me anytime. My website www.wort-wahl.de is available in English, you’ll find information on my interpreting & translation services, testimonials, interpreting videos and samples.
Need to catch my flight now!
With much love,
Karin R., Cologne, Germany
